Frequently Asked Questions (Virtual Academy)

Q?

I am new to homeschooling, help!

A. Be assured you are not alone.  A dedicated teacher will guide you through each step of the process so that you can be a successful learning coach.

Q?

What is your class size per teacher?

A. There are between 25-30 students per virtual teacher.

Q?

I don't know much about computers, help!

A. You made it to this page which shows that you have at least a basic understanding.  We can help you learn the rest.  A Virtual School is mostly online, so a familiarity with internet browsers, connecting to the internet and interaction in daily emails is important.  We can offer some support in this area, but a basic understanding will make the transition to a virtual home school environment an easier endeavor.

Q?

How is interaction with the teacher mostly done?

A.  Communication is very important. Each learning coach has a different preference for communication.  Communication can be by phone, email, Skype, IM (Instant Messaging), text messaging and more.  There is time when we meet face-to-face.  This is during Parent/Teacher Conferences, initial meetings, and California State Testing.

Q?

How often are work samples collected?

A.

Work samples are collected twice at year during Parent / Teacher Conferences.  (See the Calendar, under the Contact tab)

Q?

Are there any fees to enroll in your Virtual Academy?

A.

No, we are a public charter school.

Q?

What equipment do you provide?

A.

We provide the award-winning online Plato curriculum, a mini-laptop for use while enrolled, one printer/scanner per family and one Kindle per family.

Q?

Is the internet required to use your program?

A.

Do you offer foreign language?
